SUMMARY:OER: Find licensed material for teaching and presentations - Easter Bush
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to locate and identify licensed materials online to use in your own teaching and presentations. \nWhen placing teaching and presentation materials into an open environment\, e.g. outside of the closed classroom and up onto the web\, we need to ensure that we are using openly licensed materials AND that we are providing correct attribution (this is as important as being able to correctly cite a paper). \nIn this session you will be invited to develop short visual presentations by locating and using openly licensed content. You will be guided through the process of finding\, reusing\, and sharing open content\, learning about licenses along the way. \nThe session will cover: \n\nThe differences between Open Access\, Open Educational Resources\, Copyright materials\, and Licensed materials. \nHow to identify licensed materials and which licences suit various type of usage.\nHow to search on a variety of platforms for licensed materials (e.g. Google\, Flickr\, Vimeo\, Wikimedia Commons).\nHow to correctly attribute materials that you have used. \n\nEligibility \n\nAll staff\n\nBookings via MyEd: http://edin.ac/2gjPSQZ

SUMMARY:Open Education SIG: 'Transforming OER into accessible OER'
DESCRIPTION:Disabled students need access to resources that can be adapted to suit their needs along with successful interaction with assistive technologies. The provision of accessible materials is now a legal obligation. Can OER provide a solution for both students and institutions? The UKOER programme from 2009-2012 produced a huge range of teaching materials\, many of which tried to incorporate accessibility features. But access audits have shown that the embedding of accessibility features has often been forgotten. This may have been due to the complexities involved with the process of releasing OERs or a lack of awareness about the ease with which some small adaptations can enhance use for all\, not just for those with disabilities. This webinar will look at how materials can be released in an accessibility-friendly way with minimal effort. A culture of inclusive thinking\, from purchases to personal practices\, is good for everyone and all the more urgent with changes to disabled student allowances. \nThe webinar will run in Blackboard Collaborate\, and can be accessed using the following link: \nhttp://go.alt.ac.uk/21iM6ek \nEven if you are familiar with Blackboard\, it is important that you check in advance that your system and connection are capable of handling a session\, taking account of the guidance at https://www.alt.ac.uk/events/webinar-faqs \nA recording of the webinar will be made available afterwards.
