OER and open education are important aspects of teaching and community at the University and have become increasingly important during times of crisis. OER are openly licensed materials that allow the free re-use, re-mixing/adaptation, and re-sharing of materials allowing educational use. The University of Edinburgh has an OER Service and an OER Learning and Teaching policy to encourage, assist, and promote the open sharing and re-use of educational materials.

This information session introduces the concepts of OER and open education, explores the University’s OER vision, policy, and service, and highlights some of the many benefits of engaging with OER with examples drawn from colleagues across the institution.

The session will take place online via Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.
