Benefits of OER and Open Education

March 25, 2020 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Paper covered with the word "Open" in different sizes

This information session provides an introduction to open educational resources (OER) and open education, explores the University’s OER vision, policy, and service, and highlights some of the many benefits of engaging with OER with examples drawn from colleagues across the institution.

It also provides an overview of Creative Commons licences, and practical advice and guidance on finding and using OER in different contexts.

OER are openly licensed materials that allow the free re-use, re-mixing/adaptation, and re-sharing of materials allowing educational use. The University of Edinburgh has an OER Service and an OER Learning and Teaching policy to encourage, assist, and promote the open sharing and re-use of educational materials.
